The Hangar Bar + Grill is a concept for an aviation-themed bar and grill in Overland Park, Kansas. The idea for came at its core from its place. Inspired by the rich history of Kansas aviation, this concept creates a firm background for a fun and interactive bar and grill brand. Although located in the heart of downtown, garage doors, concrete floors, exposed metal ceilings sell this bar as a fully fledged airplane hangar. This fun, aviation inspired restaurant is somewhere that friends and family can hang.
The logo reflects this visual identity. At its core, The Hangar’s isolated wordmark becomes a point of interest. The ‘g’s ascender serves as an anchoring point for the ‘the’, while its descender serves as a basis which ‘bar + grill’ is built around. The addition of the wings turns this logo into a clearly aviation-type logo. Finally, the ‘h’ lettermark variant serves as a useful asset to places where the logo would be sized-down.
To embrace this aviation aesthetic, we have created this playful drink menu that emulates an airplane runway. Embracing this style leans into the almost fun, laid back nature of the brand, fully committing to the aviation theme in a bold and confident way.
The experience of our customers are at the root of The Hangar. It was imperative to make the experience enriching for all. For this reason, these paper pilots hats were made for all of our Junior Pilots to wear on their flight.
